The OVA version of Kaoru is simply beautiful. She follows behind Kenshin at a respectful distance, understands his continuing love for Tomoe and his need to atone for being a killer, and waits patiently for his return each time he leaves. On the surface it might seem that she is allowing herself to be used like a doormat, but her acceptance of so much pain is simply another facet of her incredible strength of character. Here, she is waiting for Kenshin to react to her unexpected presence in Hiko's cabin.
